i went last night to check how's ha to see it was (lol) worse than before
ppl selling membership ppl whining about 8vs8
tried joining a random party was kicked with the word NOOB after saying i do not use vent but ts cause vent lags a lot due to my humble connection
was looking like half an hour to join another party but didnt cause they all required r3+
i didn't want to organize my own group cause i havent been there for a while and was not aware what current crappy builds are rolling there
so i wish i had a guild party to play with and never activate the local/trade chat

I'm going from 2 (edit: fame) to I don't know how much.
Don't think I'll make the 180. Or the rest of my guild must get online soon.

I've done quite some PvP since I joined my current guild, but mostly GvG and TA/RA. So I'm a HA newb and probably stay that for a very long time.
On the other hand, I do know the first maps now and how to evaluate the enemies fast (to determine their build and possible strategy).
Since I'm monk that's usefull information.
When I get hooked after this weekend, I probably play more, but don't think holding HoH will be in reach anytime soon.
I'm just not good enough for that, I lack both strategic insight and experience atm.
But then, when I get my R3, I won't be the next R3-noob.
It's just part of my progress to the next rank and in (very long) time holding HA. Hopefully with guild team.

The arguing about someone getting a deer brings out a bit of a paradox imo.
With the double fame weekends and all the FotMs over time any one can have a deer with hardly any skill. But if you don't have a least a deer a good portion of people wonder why not. In the interest of full disclosure i spent just enough time in Ha to get a deer and got out. This before glad and champion points, so it was the only pvp title you could show. so having a deer doesn't prove a whole lot, but being into pvp and not having one gets old with every noob running around flashing it in your face. So players bit the bullet and go get it.

As far as people farming fame destroying Ha. If there was no fame Ha would have a 1/3 to a 1/4 of players it gets. Of course they would almost all be good players with builds that could hold halls.

I don't fully agree with you there.
I have done several runs today and most random teams can't go beyond the first level. So that's 2 fame each run, when lucky.
The only serious team I was in was a partly ranked guild team.
They split after we lost a member in the first round (won 7 vs 8 easily) and their leader got upset on everyone wanting to change characters/builds.

Since the evening started, I am facing more and more guild teams, so it's getting harder to get a 'random' team winning from an organised one.

I'm not sure what I do after the weekend.
Or even the rest of the weekend.
My guild/alliance is not active enough in HA to get the experience.
I don't want to invest large parts of my evenings in finding a group that accepts non-ranked players.
So I'm not certain if I will be playing much HA soon, though I like the challenge.

I'm at 2.6k, and I was hoping to pull a Black Crescent and get my tiger this weekend, but it's not looking like that's going to happen, because 80 fame wins are next to impossible with the Halls mechanics right now (which I completely approve of, tbh)

I enjoy HA, but only when I'm winning, which means only when I'm earning fame.

Ephekt, I didn't realize you had so much fame :X

People will grind Underworld over and over until they get an emote. It's not very hard to win Underworld and Burial Mounds with a PUG, and that's 6 fame each run. Do that 30 times over the course of the weekend and you get a shiny, albeit worthless, bambi emote.

It's about many things to many different people. Fame or favor or holding, as long as the person enjoys it, right? Mind sets like Mesmer in Need's, as Ranger Li and Thom have said, have been prevalent for a while now.

Nurse is kind of right. The fun bit. Of course everyone plays for fun; however, their becomes a point where you get close to your next emote and you really want it bad. You can annoy your friend lists for groups (maybe I'm the only one to have done that?) and get mad in matches if you lose due to time wasting...

If you just try to have fun and make sure you have fun even if you lose. Then you will find your more relaxed attitude will allow you to play more.

I played with some Rank0 teams for like a week. Just to teach me not to be such an angry jerk. Since I got used to losing. It helped

. I find the most fame comes when you arn't expecting it too. Maybe that's just me.

I guess I'd be happy with like 1000 fame or so. Depends if I'm in the mood to HA much later on today.

Very much so, and the double fame weekend kinda encourages a "zomg must play easy build to get emote" mentality.
